The Mexico City Metro Card does more than you might think!

The new “Integrated Mobility Card” is a the new Mexico City Metro Card. As of October, 2019, it’s the only card you need for the Mexico City Metro, Metrobús, and Ecobici. It’s on sale and no other card will do what this one does.

What is it?

The new image on the reverse of the card (shown lower right) indicates that with this card you can pay for fares on the Metro, Metrobús, Light Rail, Ecobici, and soon on the Trolleybus, RTP buses, and on the planned Cablebús from Cuauhtepec to Indios Verdes.

What’s most important for International Visitors?

Although there have been combination Ecobici-Metro/Metrobus cards in the past, they were only available when purchased in combination with an annual Ecobici plan.

This new TCDMX card:

  1. can be purchased anywhere Metro cards are sold, for example
    • at any Metro station ticket window, or from the light rail ticket windows.
    • from the machines in any Metrobús station
  2. only this card will let you purchase a 1-, 3-, or 7-day Ecobici plan and then, only from the new Integrated Mobility Ecobici bike stations!

For more information on short-term Ecobici use, see this page.

Cost

The new card will be discounted in Metro station ticket windows through the end of 2019 at just five pesos. In the Metrobús and Light Rail the price will still be 10 pesos.

From January 1, 2020, Cards at any sale point will be 15 pesos and will remain at that price.

You’ll pay the price of the card, plus the balance you want available on your new card. So if you pay 100 pesos total, you’ll receive a Metro Card with a balance of 90 pesos, after the price of the card is deducted from your total payment.

Refilling Your Card

Your Metro Card can be refilled at any of the sales points mentioned above, i.e.; at any Metro station or Light Rail ticket window, or using the machines in any Metrobús station. There are also select private retailers around the city who will recharge your card.

Of course, you pay a flat fee to use Ecobici for short-term or annual plans. So, if you only use Ecobici, you won’t need to refill your card.
